Roberts describes the formation of a fighting unit from NW Cass County in Sept. 1861 to fight for the Missouri State Guard as the 10th Missouri Cavalry, Co. F. That winter they join Sterling Price as the 6th Missouri Infantry, Co. A and fight in the Battle of Pea Ridge, Arkansas.
