Watts Mill stood on the Missouri side at 103 and State Line on Indian Creek in South Kansas City. It began operating in the 1832 and survived until it closed in 1939. The land was gifted to the Kansas City Parks in 1973 and is marked today with signage telling its story.

About the Author

Bob Lewellen served on the Kansas City, Missouri City Council, Kansas City Parks and Recreation Commission and ran for Mayor in his civic career. He remains an advocate for preserving the history of Kansas City.
